Convenient Access from Spring Valley Village
Spring Valley Village sits only a quarter mile from the Katy Freeway, and that short hop to I-10 puts Hamblin Family Dentistry about 9 minutes from City Hall. For parents comparing options for a dentist in Spring Valley Village, TX, our office in Houston offers family checkups, orthodontic consultations and restorative care under one roof. Our phones are answered from 6 AM Monday through Thursday, so you can schedule the kids' cleanings before the first bell.
Start at Spring Valley Village City Hall, 1025 Campbell Road, and turn right to head south on Campbell for about a quarter mile. Turn right onto the Katy Freeway frontage road, take the on-ramp to I-10 West, and stay in the main lanes for roughly 3.4 miles. Exit at Kirkwood Rd (exit 754) and follow the frontage road to 11510 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77043, a trip of about 5.3 miles. Our Google Maps listing can route you from any street off Westview Drive.
Because Campbell Road meets the freeway so close to City Hall, nearly the whole trip is a straight westbound run on I-10, past the Beltway 8 interchange. Rush hour adds time on that stretch, so a little cushion helps for morning appointments.
The same freeway run serves the neighboring villages too. Families in Hilshire Village and Hedwig Village make much the same westbound run on I-10 to reach us.
A Village With Its Own City Hall and Its Own Story
Spring Valley Village is a small incorporated city in Harris County, about 1.2 square miles, fully surrounded by Houston. Residents voted 183 to 165 to incorporate on April 9, 1955, and Judge Bob Casey declared the Town of Spring Valley incorporated on April 25 of that year. The building-permit, subdivision and zoning ordinances adopted in 1955 and 1956 still shape the quiet residential streets you see today.
The first mayor, William F. Cannon, took office on June 30, 1955, about two months after the court's declaration.
The name has changed more than once. The Town of Spring Valley became the City of Spring Valley in 1957, and the official name became Spring Valley Village in 2007. Many longtime neighbors still just say "Spring Valley," and both names point to the same community.
Local street names carry the village's farming past. Westview Drive, the main east-west road, was once Holms Road, named for the Holm family. Fries Road honors a family that ran plant nurseries in the area. The original City Hall was dedicated on July 3, 1983, and the current City Hall and Police Department building on Campbell Road opened on May 23, 2017.
Community life centers on the green space beside City Hall. Spring Valley Village City Park, next to the Campbell Road building, has a pavilion, a gazebo and open lawn that residents can rent. The city hosts Movie in the Park and Music in the Park there, and Moritz Pech Family Park offers another place for kids to play. These small gathering spots give the village a neighborly, small-town feel inside the larger metro.
Spring Valley Village belongs to a group of six small cities known as the Memorial Villages, carved out of the greater Spring Branch area in the 1950s. Bunker Hill Village is another member of the group. Together with Hilshire and Hedwig, these neighbors share the Village Fire Department and many of the same Spring Branch ISD schools.
What Spring Valley Village Parents Should Know About Family Dental Care
The 2020 census counted 4,229 people in the city, about 14 percent more than in 2010. Roughly three in four households are married couples, and the median age sits in the early 40s. In plain terms, this is a town of parents, school-age children and growing families.
Children here move through a clear Spring Branch ISD path. Kids start at Bear Boulevard School for Pre-K, attend Valley Oaks Elementary on Westview Drive, then go on to Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School, both in Hedwig Village. The Spring Branch School of Choice also operates inside the city.
Memorial High School, where most local teens finish, opened in 1962 to relieve crowding at Spring Branch High School. Today it sits on Echo Lane in Hedwig Village and draws students from across the Villages. The school's teams are the Mustangs, and student athletes in contact sports should ask about protecting their teeth during the season.
Each stage brings different dental needs. Young children need gentle first visits and early checks for decay. Middle schoolers lose their last baby teeth and often start talking about straightening. High schoolers want a confident smile for photos, sports and college interviews, and parents start noticing their own wear and tear.
Seeing the whole family at one office makes that easier to manage. Our three dentists treat children, teens and adults, and digital x-rays help them track changes from one visit to the next. When a child's tooth breaks after school, same-day appointments are available for urgent problems.
Parents deserve attention too. Adults in their 40s often carry fillings from childhood that are starting to wear, and a cracked molar can turn a busy week upside down. Our restorative team replaces tired fillings and rebuilds broken teeth, and same-day crowns let many adults finish that work in one appointment. Keeping your own checkups on the calendar sets a good example for the kids, too.
A family's first appointment sets the tone. Each new patient's comprehensive visit includes digital x-rays, a thorough exam and a cleaning, so parents leave with a clear picture of every child's teeth. Kids who meet the same team twice a year tend to settle into visits more easily. Parents can also use that first visit to raise their own questions about whitening, veneers or aligners.
Clear aligners come up often with families at this stage. Before booking a consultation, parents can read whether you or your teen may qualify for Invisalign. A free consultation then confirms whether aligners are the right fit.

How far is Hamblin Family Dentistry from Spring Valley Village, and how do I get there?
From City Hall it is about 5.3 miles, a drive of roughly 9 minutes. You take Campbell Road south to the Katy Freeway, ride I-10 West, exit at Kirkwood Rd (exit 754) and follow the frontage road to 11510 Katy Fwy. That makes us a practical dentist in Spring Valley Village, TX, for families who live near the freeway.
When should Spring Valley Village children have their first dental visit?
Plan the first visit by the first birthday or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and relaxed, and they help children get comfortable in the chair. The dentist checks how the teeth are coming in and shows parents how to clean them at home.
Who is a good candidate for porcelain veneers?
Good candidates have healthy teeth and gums but want to change color, shape or small gaps and chips. Veneers are less suited to teeth with active decay, gum disease or a heavy grinding habit until those are addressed. The veneer consultation is free, and the dentist explains whether veneers or another option fits you.
Can medications cause dry mouth and cavities in older adults?
Yes, many common medications reduce saliva, and a dry mouth makes cavities and gum problems more likely. Saliva rinses away food and neutralizes acid, so less of it leaves teeth exposed. Sipping water, limiting sugary snacks and keeping regular cleanings help, and the dentist can watch for early decay along the gumline.
Can my child get a checkup without missing much of the school day?
Usually, yes. The office is about 9 minutes from the village, so a checkup does not swallow an entire morning. Our team answers calls from 6 AM Monday through Thursday, which lets parents book the visit that best fits the school calendar. Siblings can often be seen back to back on the same trip.
